A Florida judge has declared Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner divorced, signing off on a confidential agreement between the former couple.

The Miami-Dade County judge approved the agreement on Friday, one year after the Jonas Brothers singer filed for divorce from the Game of Thrones and X-Men actress, five years after their marriage.

Their split briefly became acrimonious and appeared to be heading towards a prolonged and contentious custody battle.

The documents indicate that mediated negotiations led to an agreement on the division of assets, spousal support, and custody of their two daughters, four-year-old Willa and two-year-old Delphine.

Judge Gina Beovides declared that the marriage was "irretrievably broken" and that the couple’s agreement, particularly their parenting plan, was in the best interest of the family.

The couple met through Instagram messages and began dating in 2016. They married in a private ceremony at a Las Vegas wedding chapel in May 2019, following the Billboard Music Awards. Country duo Dan + Shay performed at the wedding.

Jonas filed for divorce in September 2023. In the filing, he sought joint custody and mentioned that the couple had a pre-nuptial agreement.

The following day, both posted identical amicable statements on their Instagram accounts.

However, the split escalated into a serious dispute within weeks when Turner sued to compel Jonas to hand over the girls’ passports so they could join her in her native England.

The daughters, who were born in the US but hold dual citizenship, were with Joe Jonas in New York, where he was on tour, according to court documents. Turner claimed they had planned to raise the girls in England, but the marriage fell apart.

Turner stated she learned of Jonas’ divorce filing through the media, while Jonas said they had discussed it multiple times.

The custody dispute was resolved in January, signalling that the couple was on a path to settlement.

Turner, who is from Northampton in the UK, played Sansa Stark for eight seasons on HBO’s Game of Thrones and portrayed Jean Grey in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse and 2019’s Dark Phoenix.

Arizona-born Jonas rose to fame with his brothers Nick and Kevin in a band that started in 2005, along with a subsequent Disney Channel series. Last year, they released their sixth studio album and toured US stadiums.
