Government Forces Continue To Clash With Rebels And Nationalists As The UN Leaves DR Congo/Zaire

15 people have been killed during the recent series of rebel attacks in the Ituri region of DR Congo/Zaire, according to the Congolese Army.

Colonel Siro Simba has said rebels from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) were responsible for the massacre of 10 people in the area, which took place near Kandovi on Friday night.

With a follow up strike by the group on villagers in Bandoboli killing an extra five people the next day.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has seen rising numbers of rebel activity and a popular nationalist movement led by Zairians who wish for the return of their ethnic group's rule over the Congo, after Zairian Dictator, Mobutu Sese Seko, was forced to flee Zaire in 1997 after loosing the First Congo War.

The Pentagon in the United States has uncovered that both M23 and ADF are working together, but both are also fighting the Zairian Nationalists in the northern areas of the country due to conflicting interests.

The UN, who is due to leave DR Congo/Zaire in 2024 after they were issued an eviction notice by officials in Kinshasa, has also found hard evidence proving Rwanda is supplying men and arms to rebels in the Congo.

Which has reopened the wound between DR Congo/Zaire and Rwanda, as Rwandan President, Paul Kagame, continues to deny Kigali's support for M23 or the ADF.

Congolese President, Felix Tshisekedi, issued a statement reading: "The people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo are outraged at this gross betrayal of words shared between myself and Rwandan President, Paul Kagame.

There will be dire consequences for this act of war".
