Aston Villa’s Champions League squad has been confirmed by UEFA as they prepare to compete in European football’s premier competition for the first time in over 40 years. Villa will commence their campaign with an away fixture against Young Boys in Switzerland on 17th September, before welcoming German giants Bayern Munich to Villa Park for their first home match on 2nd October.

Following this, they will host Bologna, travel to Club Brugge, entertain Juventus, journey to RB Leipzig and Monaco, and finally, host Celtic—all before the end of January. These eight matches will determine whether they progress to the next round of the competition or exit entirely, with the safety net of the Europa League removed this season.

As with the Premier League, after the closure of the transfer window—a task Villa must complete before hosting Everton at Villa Park on the weekend following the current international break—they have also had to submit their squad for the Champions League’s first round phase.

There are two lists: List A comprises senior players over the age of 21, with up to 25 players allowed in this group. Of these 25, eight must be homegrown. List B, on the other hand, consists of younger players born after 1st January 2003, with an unlimited number of spots available for Villa to utilise. Here are the two lists according to UEFA’s website:
