K-pop boyband MIRAE have disbanded, only three years after their debut.

MIRAE’s label, DSP Media, announced the boyband’s disbandment today (9 July) in a statement through the group’s official Weverse page. The decision came approximately three-and-a-half years after the group made their debut in March 2021.

“After long thoughts and lengthy discussions, the company and MIRAE have decided to end the group’s activities,” DSP Media said in its statement, as translated by Koreaboo. “The group activities will conclude, but Son Dongpyo will remain with the company for his individual activities.”

“Thank you again for your support towards MIRAE. Please continue to watch over the MIRAE members’ future activities with your continued affection and support,” the label added.

Since the announcement, the members of MIRAE have released handwritten letters addressing their disbandment in Korean.

Over their three-year career, MIRAE released five Korean mini-albums and one Japanese EP. Their last release was the Japanese-language ‘Running Up’, which came out on Valentine’s Day this year.

In other K-pop news, (G)I-DLE have released the music video for their new single ‘Klaxon’, from their latest mini-album ‘I Sway’. It came six months after their January full-length record ‘[2]’.

Meanwhile, Stray Kids have announced their upcoming 2024 to 2025 ‘dominATE’ world tour, featuring concerts in Asia, Europe, North America and more.

Plus, ITZY have announced the return of member Lia and teased a new album that’s set to be released later this year. It comes about nine months after the singer first went on hiatus over “extreme levels of anxiety”.
