Vin Diesel Says Fast & Furious 11 Will Release April 2027

Vin Diesel has officially confirmed that Fast & Furious 11—billed as the final instalment of the long-running action franchise—will be released in April 2027. The actor made the announcement during a surprise appearance at Fuelfest, a car show held in Los Angeles over the weekend, thrilling fans with news of a nostalgic return to the series’ roots and the comeback of a fan-favourite character.
In front of a crowd of car enthusiasts, Diesel said the studio had approached him with a request to conclude the saga by 2027. He agreed, but only under three conditions: “The first is to bring the franchise back to L.A.,” he told the audience. “The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing. The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner. That is what you’re going to get.”
The return of Brian O’Conner, originally played by Paul Walker—who tragically died in a car crash in 2013—has sparked both excitement and concern among fans. Walker’s final appearance came in Furious 7 (2015), where his brothers Caleb and Cody helped complete his scenes using digital effects. How the filmmakers intend to reintroduce the character for Fast & Furious 11 remains uncertain.
The franchise, which began in 2001 as a street racing drama, has since evolved into a globe-trotting, high-octane action series. Diesel’s comments suggest a deliberate move to recapture the essence of the earlier films, a decision likely to please long-time fans.
While details about the plot and the use of digital technology to recreate Walker’s likeness have yet to be revealed, the announcement has already generated significant anticipation for what is expected to be an emotional and action-packed farewell.
Fast & Furious 11 will follow on from 2023’s Fast X, which ended on a dramatic cliffhanger. By the time it hits cinemas, four years will have passed since that release—making this final chapter one of the most awaited in the series’ history.
