Manchester City Women have confirmed the appointment of Denmark head coach Andrée Jeglertz as their new manager. The 53-year-old Swede has signed a four-year contract and will officially assume the role following the conclusion of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
Denmark Boss Andrée Jeglertz to Take Charge at Manchester City After Euro 2025

Jeglertz replaces Gareth Taylor, who was dismissed in March. Former City head coach Nick Cushing took over on an interim basis shortly before the team’s League Cup final defeat to Chelsea.
City’s director of football for the women’s team, Therese Sjögran, welcomed the appointment, stating:
“Andrée brings a wealth of experience at the top of the game, as well as a real hunger to drive Manchester City forward.
He really impressed us with his attitude and ambition, and the way he sees the game aligns perfectly with our own vision.
We wish him luck at the Euros this summer with Denmark and are all very excited to see what impact he can make in our bright future.”
Jeglertz, a former Malmö defender, boasts an impressive managerial résumé. He guided Swedish side Umeå to UEFA Women’s Cup glory (now the Women’s Champions League) in 2004 and led them to consecutive finals in 2007 and 2008.
After a brief stint in men’s football with Djurgårdens IF in 2009, he took charge of the Finland women’s national team, a post he held until 2016. He later returned briefly to Umeå before managing Linköpings for two years.
He was appointed head coach of Denmark’s women’s national team after the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Under his leadership, Denmark secured qualification for Euro 2025, finishing second in their group behind reigning world champions Spain.
Speaking on his new role, Jeglertz said:
“Manchester City are one of the biggest clubs in the world. There is so much talent in this group.
One of my key focuses is to continue the good work that has already been done and take it to the next level.
We want to win, develop players, and ensure that every day the team is progressing.
I will do everything I can to elevate the team and ensure we play attractive, winning football.”
