Goalkeeper Adrian has confirmed his departure from Liverpool after a five-year stint with the club, with the 37-year-old expected to join Real Betis as a free agent.

The experienced shot-stopper was offered a new contract by the Merseyside club to extend his stay for another season. However, Adrian posted a video on his X account to announce his decision to decline the offer.

Adrian expressed his deep honour in wearing the Liverpool jersey over the past five years, stating that "defending the Liverpool badge at Anfield should be listed among the seven wonders of the world."

According to renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano, the free agent will now reunite with his boyhood club Real Betis, returning to the La Liga side after his departure in 2013.

Adrian joined Liverpool in 2019 as a backup goalkeeper for Alisson Becker but unexpectedly received significant playing time during his debut season when the Brazilian goalkeeper suffered an injury.

The Spaniard played a pivotal role at the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign, contributing to Liverpool's victory in the UEFA Super Cup and playing a part in the club's Premier League title triumph. Adrian made 26 appearances for the Reds, with his final match coming in the 2022 Community Shield.
