British police have charged three men with facilitating illegal immigration following the deaths of five migrants who perished while attempting to cross the English Channel from France to the UK.

British law enforcement announced on Wednesday that they had detained three individuals in relation to the fatalities of five migrants who had sought to traverse the Channel from France.

This development follows a parliamentary approval on Tuesday of legislation facilitating the deportation of asylum seekers to Rwanda. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak contends that this action will dissuade migrants from embarking on Channel crossings.

Thus far this year, over 6,000 individuals have arrived in Britain via small boats.

The migrants, including one child, tragically lost their lives on Tuesday when a small, overcrowded boat carrying 112 individuals attempted the crossing. Panic ensued among the passengers just before reaching the shore.

Britain's National Crime Agency (NCA) revealed that the arrested individuals were two Sudanese citizens aged 19 and 22, and a 22-year-old national of South Sudan. They were apprehended on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The agency stated that the three men were suspected of facilitating illegal immigration and entering the UK unlawfully.

Approximately 50 individuals were rescued, with four requiring hospitalization.

"This tragic incident once again underscores the life-threatening risks associated with these crossings and underscores the importance of targeting the criminal networks behind them," remarked Craig Turner, Deputy Director of Investigations at the NCA.

"We will collaborate extensively with our partners in the UK and France to gather evidence, ascertain those accountable for this tragedy, and ensure they face legal consequences," stated the NCA.

Additionally, the NCA informed that French authorities were conducting their own investigation into the incident.
