A stabbing incident at a South Wales secondary school results in one arrest and three injuries.

A person has been arrested after three individuals sustained injuries in a significant occurrence at a school in Carmarthenshire. The event unfolded at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, commonly referred to as Amman Valley School, located in Ammanford within the south Wales county earlier today.

Authorities have confirmed that they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the emergency situation and have urged the public not to disseminate footage of the incident circulating on social media.

Earlier reports, yet to be confirmed, suggested a stabbing incident occurred at the school, prompting classrooms to be placed on lockdown. Video footage captured an air ambulance landing at the secondary school, accompanied by numerous police vehicles, while anxious parents rushed to the scene.

Concerned crowds gathered outside the school gates, observing emergency responders at work. Worried family members were seen exchanging texts and calls as they waited on the pavement. One parent expressed disbelief, highlighting the peaceful nature of the area and the school's positive community.

Another parent, Lisa Barrett, relayed her daughter's message about the lockdown, emphasizing the shock and concern within the community.

Mrs. Barrett mentioned that she had not received any updates from the school yet. "I am just waiting," she added. "I don't know if I should go down there or not."

First Minister Vaughan Gething wrote on X: "Shocked to hear news of serious incident in Rhydaman. A deeply worrying time for the school, families, and community. Diolch to first responders."

Local councillor Rob James expressed his sympathy, stating, "My thoughts are with the headteacher, teaching staff, parents, and pupils of Ysgol Dyffryn Aman after today's major incident. I have been in contact with Carmarthenshire Council and will provide any support I can to the school during this difficult time."

Local MP Jonathan Edwards, representing Carmarthen East and Dinefwr, shared his concern about the incident on social media, writing, "Thoughts are with everyone back home and with the authorities responding."

Adam Price, Plaid Cymru member of the Senedd for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr and a former pupil at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, expressed solidarity with the school community, stating on social media, "As we wait for more information to be released, my thoughts, like the rest of us, are with the school's community."

Dyfed-Powys Police and two air ambulances responded to the scene. One air ambulance has reportedly departed for University Hospital in Cardiff, while the other remains on-site.

Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, a Welsh language school, accommodates 1,800 pupils aged 11 to 18. Situated in the north of Ammanford town center, the town itself is located a few miles northeast of the western terminus of the M4 motorway.

Leader of the Welsh Conservatives Andrew RT Davies described the incident as "extremely concerning," stating, "Schools should be a place of safety, learning, and discovery. It is deeply sad and distressing that today teachers and pupils have had that safety shattered by a violent incident."
