Mordaunt's 103 Votes Wasn't Enough To Keep 2nd Place After Liz Truss Made A Surprise Comeback In Yesterdays Vote

PM's campaign for PM is no more, after she got 103 votes in yesterdays Conservative Leadership Contest vote.

Liz Truss was able to beat Penny Mordaunt by a margin of 10 votes, after she successfully crawled back to second place yesterday with 113 votes.

Truss is now slated to go head to head with the current leader in the race to become the new Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, who secured 137 votes yesterday.

Mordaunt issued a statement following her surprise defeat yesterday: "I pay tribute to anyone who puts themselves forward for such a demanding roll.

Politics isn't easy, it can be a divisive and difficult place.

We must all now work together to unify our party, and focus on the job".

For the next six weeks, over 200,000 members of the Conservative Party will cast their votes between Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak.

On September 2nd the winner will be announced, the UK could see it's first Indian Prime Minister or 3rd female Prime Minister, if Sunak or Truss wins respectively.
