Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Italian full-back Destiny Udogie was threatened with a gun by a football agent who has since been arrested following the incident.

The 22-year-old defender was reportedly targeted with a firearm in London on 6 September, prompting a police response at 11:14 p.m. It is understood that another man was also blackmailed and threatened by the same agent, although no injuries were reported.

Metropolitan Police Investigation and Arrest

Following the ordeal, the Metropolitan Police launched an investigation that led to the arrest of a 31-year-old football agent two days later.

Almost two months on, Udogie has since returned to Ange Postecoglou’s first-team squad while the legal case remains ongoing.

Tottenham Issue Statement on Udogie Case

Udogie featured in Tuesday night’s 4-0 Champions League victory over FC Copenhagen, marking his full return from a recent fitness setback. The Italian international had missed Premier League matches against Aston Villa and Everton, before making a substitute appearance in the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea last weekend.

According to The Mirror, the agent was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent, blackmail, and driving without a licence. While reports in Italy had already identified Udogie as the victim, Tottenham Hotspur have now officially confirmed the player’s involvement through an official spokesperson:

“We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”

Udogie joined Spurs from Udinese in the summer of 2022 and made his 76th appearance for the club in the midweek victory over Copenhagen.

Udogie Changes Representation Following Incident

In the aftermath of the event, Udogie opted to change representation, officially signing with Elite Project Group on 10 October, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

The agency also manages a number of Premier League stars, including Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Aston Villa’s Jadon Sancho.

Prior to the switch, Udogie had been represented by the Rome-based Football Service agency, which manages several Italian footballers.

The former Hellas Verona academy graduate, who spent his entire career in Italy before moving to North London three years ago, signed a contract extension in 2023 that keeps him at Tottenham until 2030.

So far this season, he has made 10 appearances across all competitions, including his recent outing against FC Copenhagen.
