Algerian President Tebboune Begins Three-Day Official Visit to Türkiye
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune is set to begin an official three-day visit to Türkiye on Wednesday, following an invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to a statement issued by Turkish Communications Director Burhanettin Duran.
Duran disclosed the information through the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, noting that the visit will last until Friday and will include several high-level diplomatic engagements aimed at strengthening relations between both countries.
A major highlight of the visit will be the first meeting of the Türkiye–Algeria High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday in Ankara, the capital of Türkiye. This council meeting represents an important milestone in the diplomatic relationship between the two nations, as it is designed to provide a structured platform for deeper strategic dialogue and cooperation.
According to Duran, the meeting will be attended by relevant ministers and senior government officials from both Algeria and Türkiye. These officials are expected to engage in wide-ranging discussions covering multiple areas of mutual interest. The agenda will include a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, with special emphasis on strengthening ties with Algeria, which he described as a “friendly and brotherly” country.
The discussions are also expected to focus on identifying new opportunities for cooperation and exploring practical steps that could further enhance collaboration between the two countries in various sectors. These may include economic partnerships, trade expansion, investment opportunities, and other areas of shared development interest.
In addition to bilateral matters, the talks will also provide an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on current regional developments as well as broader international issues. This aspect of the dialogue is expected to allow Türkiye and Algeria to align perspectives on global challenges and coordinate approaches where necessary.
Duran further added that, as part of the visit, several agreements are expected to be signed between the two countries. These agreements are aimed at strengthening the legal and institutional framework that supports bilateral relations. They are also expected to deepen cooperation and formalize commitments in different fields, thereby giving renewed momentum to Türkiye–Algeria relations going forward.
