Joshua Kimmich has praised Bayern Munich’s composure and defensive resilience after their hard-fought 2–1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Joshua Kimmich Hails Bayern Munich’s Ruthless Efficiency After Victory Over Paris Saint-Germain
The Bundesliga champions travelled to the Parc des Princes facing a stern challenge but rose to the occasion with a disciplined performance. Luis Díaz opened the scoring for the visitors before being shown a red card, forcing Bayern to play with ten men for much of the second half. Despite conceding once, Thomas Tuchel’s side held firm to secure all three points and extend their winning streak to 16 consecutive matches across all competitions.
Kimmich: “It Was One of the Most Intense Halves of My Career”
Speaking after the match, Kimmich reflected on Bayern’s first-half dominance and praised his teammates for maintaining their intensity under pressure.
“We were able to hurt them in the first half,” Kimmich told reporters, as quoted by @iMiaSanMia on X (formerly Twitter).
“We didn’t necessarily have a lot of possession, but we created chances. We were very present physically — it was one of the most intensive halves I’ve played in my career.
“In the second half, we didn’t have much going forward, but we defended really well. It’s not as if they pinned us back in our box or created big chances — most of their efforts were from long range, apart from João Neves’ header.”
Kimmich also credited Manuel Neuer for instilling confidence in Bayern’s defence, adding:
“When you have Manu [Neuer] in goal, you can calmly let them take shots from distance.”
Focus Turns to Upcoming Fixtures
Bayern’s latest win keeps their momentum alive as they look ahead to a busy schedule. The Bavarians face Union Berlin at the weekend, followed by a trip to Freiburg after the international break. They will then prepare for another major test against Premier League side Arsenal, who are also unbeaten in Europe this season.
