President Tinubu praised the Super Eagles for their resilience and performance, urging them to remain hopeful. He encouraged Nigerian youth to pursue their dreams, assuring support from his administration.

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu awarded the Super Eagles of Nigeria with the national honor of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), along with flats in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and a piece of land.

President Tinubu made the announcement during a meeting with the players and officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Senator John Owan Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, led the delegation of the Super Eagles, who were the runners-up in the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), hosted by Côte d’Ivoire.

Before their visit to the villa, Alex Iwobi endured cyber attacks following Nigeria’s loss to Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the recently concluded African Cup of Nations. The Super Eagles of Nigeria, along with all officials, were present at the villa, dressed in green attire.

President Tinubu, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, issued a statement commending the team, the coach, the crew, and the entire management team for their hard work, diligence, and sacrifice that led them to this point in the tournament.

President Tinubu also acknowledged the obstacles the team consistently overcame with steadily improving performance as they progressed to the finals. Above all, he encouraged the Eagles and advised them to remain optimistic. He remarked, "We achieved a significant victory in the hearts of Africa and the world with our determination and resilience on the field of play. Let this recent event not discourage us but instead unite us to strive harder. We are a great nation, unified by the green-white-green banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and unwavering love."

"To those cherished Nigerian youths showcasing their talents in communities, etching lines in the sand as they play football on their modest fields, you can be our heroes of tomorrow; do not falter in your pursuit. My administration is committed to turning dreams into reality," added the president.
