Manchester United legend Gary Neville has led calls for Nuno Espirito Santo to walk away from his role as Nottingham Forest manager, following an extraordinary incident involving club owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Marinakis stormed onto the pitch to confront Nuno after Forest’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City—a result that significantly damaged the club’s hopes of securing Champions League football.

“Scandalous from that Forest owner,” Neville wrote on social media. “Nuno should go and negotiate his exit tonight with him! The Forest fans, players and manager do not deserve that.”

Should the Portuguese tactician opt to depart amid the public scrutiny and tension with ownership, Express Sport has identified four potential replacements who could take the reins at the City Ground:

1. Davide Ancelotti

With his father, Carlo Ancelotti, set to leave Real Madrid to manage Brazil later this month, Davide Ancelotti is expected to follow suit and begin his own journey as a head coach.

Having served as assistant to his father at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton and Real Madrid, Davide is highly regarded across Europe as a talented and tactically astute emerging coach.

Although he is reportedly in advanced talks with Rangers, the allure of Premier League management and the prospect of European football with Forest may prove too enticing to resist.

2. Oliver Glasner

Following nearly 15 months at Crystal Palace, Oliver Glasner has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most capable managers. The Eagles are on course for a mid-table finish and have an FA Cup final to look forward to—testament to the Austrian’s positive impact at Selhurst Park.

If Forest secure European qualification, they may be able to prise Glasner away from their Premier League rivals, especially given that his favoured 3-4-3 formation aligns well with the current Forest squad.

3. Kieran McKenna

Despite Ipswich Town’s relegation, Kieran McKenna remains a highly sought-after managerial prospect, having outperformed fellow promoted teams for much of the campaign. The former Manchester United coach was previously linked with high-profile roles at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge, underlining his reputation.

McKenna is eager to prove himself in the top flight once again, and Forest could offer the perfect platform for him to rebuild his Premier League credentials.

4. Kjetil Knutsen

A slightly more unconventional option, Kjetil Knutsen has attracted widespread admiration for his exceptional work with Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt. The club’s remarkable rise has included Europa League victories over the likes of Roma, Celtic, Porto, Lazio and Besiktas, and a recent appearance in the semi-finals of the competition.

Knutsen has demonstrated a knack for overachieving on the European stage, and with Forest potentially returning to continental competition, the 56-year-old could be an inspired appointment.
