Real Betis president Ángel Haro has confirmed that discussions will be held with Manchester United at the end of the season as the Spanish club aims to retain loanee Antony.
Real Betis President Gives Update on Antony’s Future as Rejuvenated Manchester United Loanee Shines Once Again in Europa Conference League Semi-Final

The Brazilian winger continued his sensational form, playing a pivotal role as Betis secured their place in the Europa Conference League final against Chelsea.
Having struggled during his time at Manchester United, the 25-year-old has rediscovered his best form in Seville, scoring a stunning free-kick and providing the assist for Abde Ezzalzouli’s extra-time winner in a dramatic semi-final victory over Fiorentina.
Since joining in January, Antony has delivered eight goals and five assists, earning repeated man-of-the-match accolades and winning the hearts of Betis supporters, who are eager for him to extend his stay.
Club president Haro has now confirmed that Betis plan to enter talks with United in an attempt to keep the winger beyond the summer.
Speaking to COPE, Haro explained:
“His name was brought forward by the sporting director. It was a low-cost arrangement because Manchester United covered nearly all of his wages.
“The player was keen to come to Betis. It was a straightforward loan deal—very inexpensive for us—and there was no option to purchase included.
“Retaining Antony will be very, very difficult. We will meet with Manchester United to try and extend the loan for another year and possibly agree on a shared percentage of the player.
“It depends on United’s willingness first and foremost, and then we would discuss terms with the player. But it’s still a long way off.
“For now, the player is fully focused on winning a trophy with Betis. When the season concludes, he’ll have his say if that opportunity arises.”
Antony was signed by Manchester United from Ajax for £86 million, but managed just 12 goals and five assists in 96 appearances for the club.
He has since flourished away from Old Trafford and attributes his poor form in Manchester to personal issues that affected his performances.
“I believe my personal life interfered significantly with my football,” he said. “There were things I went through, difficult moments I experienced, and it affected me a lot.
“I know the potential I have. It’s no coincidence I played at the World Cup or was signed by Manchester United for a large fee. I know my worth.
“People focus on the present moment, but not on the wider context or what leads to certain situations. Of course, I had good and bad spells at United, but I could definitely have done more.”
Antony’s standout display against Fiorentina follows a last-gasp winner in the league at the weekend, further reinforcing his resurgence.
Commenting on what lies ahead, he said:
“The future? It’s too early to say. I don’t know what will happen, but I’m very happy here.
“I’ve found joy in my football again. It’s a bit surreal at the moment. I know my talent, but I chose to go where I’d be happiest, even though I had better offers elsewhere.”
Betis currently sit sixth in La Liga, just one point behind Villarreal in the fifth and final Champions League qualification spot, with four matches remaining.
