Raul Jimenez has revealed to the Mexican media that he has turned down approaches from clubs in Mexico, the United States, and Saudi Arabia because he is determined to remain at Fulham beyond this summer.

The Mexican international’s contract is set to expire at the end of June, but Fulham hold an option to extend the deal for another twelve months. Jimenez has already expressed his desire to stay in SW6 and spoke to TUDN’s Faitelson sin censura this weekend, stating:

“There have been talks with several teams from Mexico, MLS, and also Saudi Arabia. I’ve been in contact with some clubs, but what I’ve told them is that my contract ends in the summer. However, what I’m looking for is to stay in Europe, specifically with Fulham. I’m not considering a return to Mexico, MLS, or Saudi Arabia at the moment. That could be an option for the future, but it’s not my main plan right now. It’s better for me to play at the highest level for as long as I can. I want to continue helping my team [Fulham] and the Mexican national team, especially with the World Cup in mind.”

The 34-year-old has scored twelve goals and provided three assists in his forty appearances for Fulham across all competitions this season. He praised the quality of the Premier League and expressed his eagerness to continue the battle with Rodrigo Muniz for the role of Marco Silva’s first-choice centre forward next season.

“The most challenging part is being ready for every game here,” Jimenez said. “There’s no match where you think, ‘It’s going to be easy; we’ll take it easy this weekend.’ We’ve all experienced that. We could play against the team in first place and beat Liverpool 3-2 this season, but then face a team in the relegation zone and lose. The Premier League is very demanding and competitive, and it always requires the best from you. I’m capable of handling it, and now that I’m at a more mature age, I can understand things better and enjoy my football even more.”
