Egypt, Angola Bolster Bilateral Relations in High-Level Cairo Talks





Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Angolan President João Lourenço in Cairo on Tuesday. During their meeting, President El-Sisi highlighted the significance of enhancing political, economic, and investment relations between Egypt and Angola, drawing on the deep-rooted historical ties shared by the two nations.
He noted that “a number of memoranda of understanding have been signed in the fields of communications, information technology, housing, and infrastructure, which will contribute to strengthening cooperation in these areas.”
Trade between Egypt and Angola reached $34.2 million in 2024, marking a 60 percent increase.
The discussions between the two leaders also addressed pressing African and international matters such as water scarcity, climate change, and the ongoing wars in Sudan and Gaza.
President El-Sisi commended President Lourenço’s mediation efforts in the conflict affecting the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Both presidents underscored the importance of a unified African stance on global challenges and advocated for stronger representation of the African continent in international institutions.
