Chelsea have moved a step closer to securing their sixth consecutive Women’s Super League title following a commanding 4–0 home win against Crystal Palace on Wednesday, extending their lead at the top of the table to six points with just three matches remaining.

The Blues remain unbeaten in the league this season and now sit on 51 points from 19 fixtures. With only three games left to play, second-placed Arsenal will be hoping rival teams can take points off Sonia Bompastor’s side to keep their own slim title hopes alive.

Crystal Palace, rooted to the bottom of the table and seven points adrift of safety, got off to a dreadful start when they conceded an early penalty. Norwegian international Guro Reiten stepped up and calmly converted from the spot. Catarina Macario doubled Chelsea’s lead before the interval.

The Eagles’ woes deepened early in the second half when defender Allyson Swaby was shown a straight red card for bringing down Sjoeke Nüsken, who was clean through on goal. Macario then scored again from the resulting free-kick, her shot taking a deflection on its way in. Mia Fishel rounded off the scoring with a fourth goal to seal all three points for the home side.
