Real Madrid are optimistic that both Kylian Mbappé and Ferland Mendy will be fit in time for the upcoming Copa del Rey final against fierce rivals FC Barcelona.

Mbappé, who picked up a minor ankle sprain during last week’s clash with Arsenal, is expected to recover in time for the final. Meanwhile, Mendy—sidelined for the past six weeks following an injury sustained against Atlético Madrid—has returned to light training and was seen working with the ball alongside his teammates for the first time since the setback.

The coaching staff at Real Madrid remain hopeful of including both players in the matchday squad for the final. However, the team has suffered a blow with the news that Eduardo Camavinga has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, including the Club World Cup, due to injury. David Alaba is also a doubt, although he may return to training as early as tomorrow and could be in contention for selection.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has previously hailed Mendy as the best defender in the world, is eager to have him available. Should Mendy be deemed unfit, Fran García is likely to start at left-back, particularly given Camavinga’s unavailability in that role. The selection will be crucial, as containing Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal is expected to be a key tactical challenge in the final.
