Two women drowned in a pond in Gezawa Local Government Area, Kano State, after finishing work at a Hibiscus processing company. The Kano State Fire Service recovered their bodies and handed them over to the police. The public is advised to avoid open waters to prevent such incidents.

The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the tragic loss of two women who drowned in a pond located in the Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.

Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the fire service, shared this information in a statement issued on Wednesday in Kano. He explained that the service received a distress call on Tuesday morning around 11:15 a.m. from a vigilance group in Gezawa, reporting that two women had drowned in a pond.

According to the report, the victims' relatives informed the vigilance group that the women were employees at a "Zobo" (Hibiscus) processing company. It was revealed that the women had gone to the pond to refresh themselves after finishing work and tragically drowned.

In response, the fire service immediately dispatched a rescue team to the scene. The team successfully recovered the bodies of the victims from the pond.

The corpses were subsequently handed over to Musa Garba, a police constable from the Gezawa police division.

The Public Relations Officer urged the public to avoid approaching open waters and rivers to help prevent similar unfortunate incidents from occurring in the future.
