Manchester United Women’s manager, Marc Skinner, has signed a new contract with the club, extending his tenure until June 2027, with the option of an additional year.
Manchester United Issue Statement as INEOS Confirm Decision on Marc Skinner

Now in his fourth season in charge since succeeding Casey Stoney in the summer of 2021, Skinner guided United to their first major silverware last season, securing the FA Cup title.
In a statement released by the club, Skinner expressed his delight:
"It has been an absolute privilege to serve as head coach of this fantastic football club for the past four years, and I am thrilled to be extending my time in the role for at least another two years.
"We are building a young, ambitious squad with the goal of consistently competing for further trophies.
"There is still plenty of hard work ahead, including this season, but the players and staff have already demonstrated their determination to succeed, and I look forward to taking the next steps in our journey together."
Under Skinner’s leadership, United finished fourth in their debut season, before climbing to second place in the Women’s Super League (WSL) in 2023, narrowly missing out on the title to Chelsea. That year, they also reached the FA Cup final, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea.
The following season, however, United lifted the FA Cup in emphatic fashion, defeating Tottenham 4-0 at Wembley. Despite their cup success, they finished fifth in the league, and their Champions League hopes were dashed in the qualifying rounds by Paris Saint-Germain.
This season, United are firmly in the race for Champions League qualification, currently sitting third in the WSL—level on points with second-placed Arsenal and six points behind leaders Chelsea. They hold a seven-point advantage over fourth-placed Manchester City, with just four league matches remaining. Beyond their league ambitions, United have also reached the FA Cup semi-finals, where they will face City away next week.
United’s technical director, Jason Wilcox, praised Skinner’s impact, stating:
"Marc’s record since taking charge speaks for itself, having delivered our first major women’s silverware and firmly establishing us among the leading teams in the WSL."
Wilcox also reinforced confidence in the team’s future under Skinner’s leadership:
"Following a significant squad rebuild last summer, we now have an exciting, developing team ready to compete for further success, and we firmly believe that Marc is the right coach to lead that process."
United’s chief operating officer, Collette Roche, highlighted the club’s long-term vision:
"Building a successful and popular women’s team is a vital part of our broader football-first strategy for the club.
"We value the contribution that Marc has already made towards that objective, and we are delighted that he will continue to play a key role in our efforts to position Manchester United at the forefront of growth in the women’s game."
