Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has stated that he would walk away from the club if the level of abuse directed at him matches that previously endured by the Glazer family.

Ratcliffe, who acquired a minority stake in United a year ago, has faced criticism from supporters as the club's struggles on the pitch continue. His decisions to raise ticket prices and implement significant staffing cuts have further fuelled discontent among fans.

Speaking about the backlash, Ratcliffe acknowledged the pressure but insisted that he would not tolerate abuse to the extent faced by the Glazers.

"The Glazers can’t really attend matches anymore; they’ve retreated into the shadows. Now, I’m the one getting all the criticism," he said.

"We invested in the club, and I haven’t seen them since. Their message is, ‘Thank you, Jim, you’re doing a really good job.’"

Ratcliffe also emphasised that, unlike the Glazers, he currently does not require personal security but admitted that if the hostility intensified, his role at the club would no longer be enjoyable.

"At the moment, I don’t have security, and I don’t need to walk around like that. But if it reached that level, it would completely undermine the purpose. You simply wouldn’t be able to tolerate it—it wouldn’t be fun anymore."
