Premier League Round-Up: Jake O’Brien’s Late Header Rescues a Point for Everton Against West Ham

Everton were left frustrated in the first half when a penalty appeal was overturned following a VAR review. The visitors capitalised on the let-off as Tomáš Souček fired West Ham ahead midway through the second half with a well-taken strike.
As the clock ticked past 90 minutes, it seemed as though Everton would suffer their first defeat in over two months. However, right-back O’Brien rose highest to head home his second goal in three matches, ensuring David Moyes took a point against his former club.
Manchester City 2-2 Brighton
(Haaland 11’ pen, Marmoush 39’ | Estupiñán 21’, Khusanov 48’ OG)
Manchester City missed the opportunity to climb back into the top four after twice relinquishing the lead in a 2-2 draw with Brighton at the Etihad Stadium.
Erling Haaland’s early penalty put City ahead before Pervis Estupiñán levelled with a superb free-kick. Omar Marmoush restored the hosts' advantage before half-time, only for a defensive mishap to cost them as Abdukodir Khusanov inadvertently turned the ball into his own net shortly after the restart.
City pushed for a winner, with Nico González striking the post late on, but Brighton, who have never won away at the Etihad, held firm. The visitors also squandered a golden chance when Carlos Baleba blazed over from close range.
Ipswich Town 2-4 Nottingham Forest
(Cajuste 82’, Hirst 90+3’ | Milenković 35’, Elanga 37’, 41’, Jota Silva 87’)
Nottingham Forest strengthened their grip on a Champions League qualification spot with a commanding 4-2 victory over Ipswich Town, extending their lead over Manchester City to six points.
Following last weekend’s dramatic triumph over City, Forest continued their impressive form at Portman Road with a ruthless first-half display. Nikola Milenković broke the deadlock in the 35th minute before Anthony Elanga capitalised on defensive lapses to net twice in quick succession, taking his season tally to five goals.
Substitute Jota Silva added a late fourth for Forest, while Jens Cajuste and George Hirst managed late consolations for the struggling hosts. The defeat leaves 18th-placed Ipswich nine points adrift of safety, compounded by relegation rivals Wolves securing a crucial win at Southampton.
Southampton 1-2 Wolves
(Onuachu 75’ | Strand Larsen 19’, 47’)
Jørgen Strand Larsen’s brace guided Wolves to a 2-1 victory at bottom-placed Southampton, moving them further away from the relegation battle and closer to securing their Premier League status for next season.
The Celta Vigo loanee opened the scoring in the 19th minute and doubled Wolves’ lead shortly after half-time, taking his goal tally for the campaign to nine. Southampton responded through Paul Onuachu’s strike in the 75th minute, but they were unable to find an equaliser.
The Saints remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just nine points, edging closer to breaking Derby County’s infamous record-low total of 11 points in a single Premier League season.
