Thomas Tuchel is set to unveil his first England squad on Friday ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia, before the team heads to the United States for next year’s tournament.
Thomas Tuchel Prepares to Announce First England Squad with Surprise Inclusions

The newly appointed Three Lions manager has compiled an extensive 55-man provisional squad, which, due to injuries and fitness concerns, has reportedly expanded to 57 players.
Rashford Eyes England Return
Marcus Rashford, 27, is eager to make his comeback for England after a year-long absence. Having missed Euro 2024 and the first half of this season at Manchester United, the forward has rediscovered his form since joining Aston Villa on loan.
Rashford, who boasts 17 goals in 60 caps, has caught Tuchel’s attention, reigniting his hopes of reclaiming his place in the national squad. However, competition for attacking spots remains fierce, with in-form players such as Morgan Rogers, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Callum Hudson-Odoi also pushing for selection.
Young Talent and Defensive Concerns
Arsenal’s highly rated youngster Ethan Nwaneri, 18, is reportedly in contention for his first senior call-up after an impressive run of performances.
Meanwhile, Tuchel faces a defensive dilemma, with Harry Maguire, John Stones, and Trent Alexander-Arnold all sidelined due to injury. However, Chelsea’s Reece James and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite have both made the provisional squad.
The left-back position presents another challenge, as both Luke Shaw and Lewis Hall are unavailable. This could open the door for Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly, particularly with club manager Mikel Arteta giving his approval for the youngster’s inclusion.
Additionally, Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell is being monitored closely and could earn a recall, despite having not featured for England since 2021.
With a mix of established stars, emerging talents, and unexpected inclusions, Tuchel’s first England squad announcement promises to be one of the most intriguing in recent years.
