Luis Enrique has made a bold statement regarding Liverpool’s Champions League prospects ahead of their decisive showdown against Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield.

The PSG manager believes that the winner of this highly anticipated encounter will progress all the way to the final in Munich. When the two sides met in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie in Paris, the French club dominated much of the match. However, it was Arne Slot’s Liverpool side that clinched victory late on, thanks to a crucial goal from substitute Harvey Elliott.

The Reds now hold a slender one-goal advantage going into their home fixture, a lead that could prove vital if the return leg unfolds in a similar manner to last week's meeting. And if Liverpool emerge victorious once again, Enrique is convinced they will go on to reach the final.

Enrique Confident in PSG’s Approach

“The most important game is always the next one, and I hope that our most important game will be the last one of the season,” Enrique stated.

“Even though we are trailing from the first leg, we will approach this match in our own way from the outset. Regardless of what happened in Paris, we wouldn’t have done anything differently.

“At the moment, we are out, so our only objective is to go out and win – that is what drives us.

“I don’t think Arne Slot has many doubts about our starting XI, and I have my own ideas about his line-up as well.

“I won’t reveal who we are going to play or how we will approach the match, but across these two games, we will witness two of Europe’s best teams. Both sides are contenders for the final, and whoever advances will go on to reach Munich.”

Anfield’s Challenge and Managing Emotions

Despite trailing from the first leg, Enrique remains confident that his squad can handle the pressure of playing at Anfield.

“I am convinced that every single one of my players will be eager to play,” he added.

“We understand what Liverpool represents – a club with a historic stadium and a remarkable legacy. This is a great source of motivation for the players, and we are determined to show that we can deliver a performance.

“Managing emotions in such matches is never easy. These are high-pressure games that require careful preparation, and maintaining composure is crucial.

“You do not want to be at 105 or 110 per cent because that can cause you to get carried away. The key is to manage emotions in the best possible way and ensure we are at our absolute best when it matters.”
