Since Barcelona secured their shirt sponsorship deal with Spotify, they have donned special-edition shirts for their encounters with Real Madrid. The Blaugrana typically replace the Spotify logo with that of a featured artist, and for this Clásico, Coldplay’s name will appear on their kit.

The collaboration had been hinted at several weeks ago, but Barcelona officially confirmed the news on Thursday, putting the unique shirts on sale just nine days ahead of their trip to face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu. Coldplay are promoting their latest album, Moon Music, which includes collaborations with artists such as Burna Boy and Little Simz. The women’s team will also wear the kit in their match against Eibar the following weekend.

Barcelona are releasing only 1,899 shirts for sale – a reference to the year the club was founded in 1899. The limited-edition replicas are expected to be priced higher than the standard home kit. Coldplay follow in the footsteps of previous artists like Drake, Rosalía, Karol G, and the Rolling Stones, with Coldplay sharing a connection to the club, much like Rosalía. During Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning season in 2009, Barcelona adopted Viva la Vida by Coldplay as their matchday anthem.
