Real Madrid reportedly held a crisis meeting on Monday night, following reports in the Swedish media that Kylian Mbappé had been accused of rape and sexual harassment.

The French star – who denies the allegations – had visited Sweden with friends from Wednesday to Friday last week, staying at the Bank Hotel in the city centre.

On Monday, Mbappé condemned a report from Aftonbladet as 'fake news' regarding an alleged rape at the hotel, said to have occurred on Thursday evening.

However, Swedish newspaper Expressen later claimed that it is Mbappé who is being investigated by police after allegations were made against the Real Madrid forward.

Earlier that evening, Mbappé had visited the Chez Jolie restaurant, followed by a stop at the V nightclub, before returning to his hotel in a black van with his entourage.

But Mbappé shared a newspaper article about the alleged rape on X on Monday and wrote: 'Fake News! It’s becoming so predictable, just before the hearing, as if by chance,' referencing a hearing related to his legal dispute with his former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) over £46 million in unpaid wages and bonuses, which is scheduled for today.

Nevertheless, according to French journalist Romain Molina, Real Madrid held a crisis meeting regarding the allegations on Monday evening.

The Spanish giants are set to return to action on Saturday when they face Celta Vigo in La Liga, but it remains unclear whether Mbappé will be involved. Real Madrid have yet to comment publicly on the situation.

Mail Sport contacted the club for comment regarding Molina's claims.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Mbappé's representatives issued a statement to AFP: 'Today, a new slanderous rumour is being circulated online by Swedish media outlet Aftonbladet.

'These accusations are completely false and irresponsible, and their spread is unacceptable.

'In order to end this methodical destruction of Kylian Mbappé's image, all necessary legal actions will be taken to restore the truth and pursue anyone or any media involved in the moral harassment and defamation that Kylian Mbappé continues to suffer,' the statement added.

According to Aftonbladet, investigators and a forensic unit were present at the alleged crime scene on Monday.

The newspaper reported that the alarm was raised when the woman sought medical care at a local hospital.

Mbappé left Sweden’s Bromma Airport on Friday in a private jet.

The prosecutor in charge of the rape investigation declined to comment on the case, telling local media: 'I will not say anything about this.'

Stockholm police provided a similar statement to MailOnline via spokesperson Carina Skagerlind: 'The police can neither confirm nor deny such a case.'

According to Aftonbladet, no suspects have been named in the case yet.

MailOnline also contacted the local prosecutor's office and the Bank Hotel for comment.

Elsewhere, later on Monday, France national team manager Didier Deschamps broke his silence on the situation when speaking to reporters after Les Bleus' 2-1 victory against Belgium.

Deschamps said that the report 'is not a good thing for the national team,' adding: 'Everyone is free to write what they want, but there is a negative atmosphere around the French team.'

He continued with a warning: 'Be careful about what you pick up. It is best to take a step back before publishing anything and everything, but these things happen so often.'

Deschamps concluded: 'There are things that are not difficult to verify, but if you credit any old rumour... In any case, I am not going to speak to him about it. He is old enough to know how to handle the situation.'

Mbappé, who captains France, was excused from the team’s matches this month to focus on regaining fitness after suffering a hamstring injury a few weeks ago.

So far, he has scored seven goals in 11 appearances since joining Real Madrid in the summer.
