The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has called on the international community to thoroughly examine the evidence that would substantiate the claims made by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) regarding Egypt's involvement in the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

Egypt has rejected allegations made by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, the leader of Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), regarding its involvement in the ongoing conflict in Sudan. Dagalo had claimed that Egypt participated in airstrikes against RSF troops and accused the Egyptian government of training and supplying drones to the Sudanese army.

In response, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Wednesday, emphasizing that these accusations arise at a time when Egypt is actively working to halt the war, protect civilians, and enhance international humanitarian response efforts for those affected by the conflict.

The ministry urged the international community to scrutinize the evidence that would substantiate Dagalo’s claims. Additionally, Egypt reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the security, stability, and unity of Sudan. The statement highlighted Egypt's determination to provide all possible support to its Sudanese "brothers" as they navigate the severe repercussions of the ongoing war.

Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF have been locked in a violent conflict that has led to more than 20,000 fatalities and displaced nearly 10 million individuals, as reported by the United Nations. There has been an increasing demand from the UN and various international organizations to bring an end to the hostilities, as the war has driven millions of Sudanese to the brink of famine and death due to widespread food shortages, with fighting now affecting 13 of Sudan's 18 states.
