Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was briefly detained by police on Sunday morning ahead of the team’s Week 1 match against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to ESPN analyst and NFL insider Adam Schefter. ESPN's Jeff Darlington reported that Hill was cited for reckless driving as he approached the stadium for the 1 p.m. ET kick-off.

Shortly after the incident gained traction on social media, the Dolphins issued a statement on their social media platforms addressing the situation: "This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was stopped due to a traffic incident approximately one block from the stadium and was briefly detained by police. He has since been released. Several teammates witnessed the incident and stopped to offer their support. Tyreek and all other players involved have safely arrived at the stadium and will be available for today’s match."

Hill "will be available" for the Dolphins’ Week 1 match, according to the statement. As reported by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Dolphins teammates, including defensive tackle Calais Campbell and tight end Jonnu Smith, stopped to check on Hill as the situation unfolded. Drew Brooks, the team’s director of security, and Brandon Shore, senior vice president of football and business administration, were also present.
