The foreign minister of the Gulf Arab state, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, extended his gratitude to the billionaire entrepreneur for his support of the UAE field hospital in Gaza, where numerous medical facilities have been obliterated over more than nine months of conflict.

Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet service has been activated in a hospital in the Gaza Strip with assistance from the United Arab Emirates and Israel, according to the CEO of SpaceX.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the foreign minister of the UAE, expressed gratitude to Musk for his support of the UAE field hospital in Gaza, where numerous medical facilities have been destroyed over the past nine months of conflict.

Musk announced on X that "Starlink is now active in a Gaza hospital with the support of @UAEmediaoffice and @Israel," more than five months after the Israeli government approved the use of Starlink in the hospital located in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

The high-speed internet service will facilitate potentially life-saving medical consultations through real-time video calls, as stated by the UAE foreign ministry in February.

Gaza's internet connectivity is poor due to limited power and fuel resources affecting provider centers. This situation impedes the work of medical staff and rescue teams and restricts hospital services and the health ministry's centralized system.

The UAE, a significant oil producer and a hub for regional finance and tourism, formalized diplomatic relations with Israel in 2020, alongside Bahrain and Morocco. Sudan also later reached a normalization agreement with Israel.

The conflict in Gaza began when Hamas-led fighters attacked Israel, resulting in 1,200 fatalities and over 250 hostages taken back to the Palestinian enclave, according to Israeli figures. In response, Israel launched an offensive that has resulted in over 39,000 Palestinian deaths, according to Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry, and caused widespread devastation in the coastal region.
