Manchester United continue to be linked with players as the transfer window gains momentum, with Erik ten Hag seeking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season. Centre-back is a position United are focusing on, especially with the impending departure of Raphaël Varane.

One of the names linked with a move to United is Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt. The Athletic now reports that United are ‘seriously considering’ making a move for the centre-back.

The Netherlands international is currently on international duty at Euro 2024 but has been an unused substitute for all three group games so far. He hopes to get some game time when the Netherlands take on Romania in the last 16.

United have not yet started any negotiations with Bayern over a potential move, but De Ligt has emerged as a concrete target. He previously worked with Ten Hag during their time at Ajax.

The defender has three years remaining on his contract with the German club, but a deal is said to be cheaper than other options, including Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.

Elsewhere, Turkish outlet Fanatik claims that Galatasaray have submitted a €15 million (£12.7 million) offer for United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and are waiting for a response from the Reds. It adds that if the bid is rejected, they will explore other options to sign the player.

The report also claims that the club has reached an agreement with the player over personal terms. They are now just waiting for a response from United to determine their next move.

Wan-Bissaka has been with United since joining from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2019. He made a total of 22 Premier League appearances last season but has just one year remaining on his current contract at Old Trafford.
