Manchester United is poised for one of its most significant post-season periods in recent years.

Not only is Sir Jim Ratcliffe likely to authorise a significant outlay in the summer transfer market, but the future of manager Erik ten Hag is undoubtedly high on the agenda.

Indeed, the timing of the latter could well impact the former, as players courted by the Red Devils will likely want to understand the project's direction before committing to it.

If it's not to be the Dutchman in charge, whoever takes over at Old Trafford will clearly bring different ideas, which may or may not be to the liking of potential new signings or current first-team staff members.

One man heavily linked with the United post, as reported by The Standard and other outlets, is former Chelsea manager and current Bayern Munich chief, Thomas Tuchel.

In February of this year, it was announced that Tuchel would not continue at Bayern after this season, with a mutual parting of the ways.

However, according to Abendzeitung, several senior Bayern Munich players want the manager to remain at the club. This group includes Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala, and Harry Kane.

For a u-turn to occur, it would require the Bayern board to put aside their pride. The outlet also quotes former player Philipp Lahm, who suggests that the Allianz Arena would benefit from more continuity rather than a consistent turnover of managers.

Given that Bayern's stadium will host next season's Champions League final, the club would undoubtedly prefer to reach the showpiece event under their current manager.

Introducing a new manager with fresh ideas that require time to implement could potentially set the project back.
