Many fans believed she had used the drug, which was initially developed for diabetes treatment. The active ingredient in Ozempic, semaglutide, is now also utilised in tackling obesity. Clarkson has since disclosed that she did not use this drug but admitted to using an alternative medication to aid her journey.

Kelly Clarkson has discussed her significant weight loss after fans speculated that she had joined the ranks of celebrities using Ozempic.

The American Idol winner turned talk show host, aged 42, has been the subject of debate for months following her transformation. Many fans believed she had turned to Ozempic, a drug originally developed for diabetes treatment. The active ingredient in Ozempic, semaglutide, is now also used in combating obesity.

Clarkson has now revealed that she did not use Ozempic but admitted to using another type of medication to aid her weight loss journey.

During a conversation with Whoopi Goldberg on Monday, Clarkson disclosed that doctors had prescribed her a weight loss medication based on her blood test results. While she did not specify the drug, Clarkson confirmed that it was not Ozempic.

She explained, "Mine is a different one than people assume, but I ended up having to do that too. Everybody thinks it's Ozempic, it's not - it's something else."

Clarkson further elaborated that her physician had been recommending the medication for two years before she agreed to try it. "My doctor chased me for like two years," she continued. "And I was like, 'No, I'm afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems,' I was afraid."

Clarkson described how the medication she uses helps her body process sugar more effectively, addressing an issue her body naturally struggles with.

Whoopi Goldberg herself has also undergone significant weight loss recently and admitted to trying a weight loss drug after reaching 300lbs at her heaviest. In March, the Sister Act star, aged 68, disclosed that she used the controversial weight loss drug Mounjaro while filming the movie Till in 2021.

Speaking on The View, Goldberg said, "I will tell you, you know, I weighed almost 300 pounds when I made Till. I had taken all those steroids, I was on all this stuff and one of the things that has helped me drop the weight is the Mounjaro... That's what I use."

Mounjaro, also known as tirzepatide, is an antidiabetic medication used for treating type 2 diabetes and aiding weight loss. Tirzepatide is administered via subcutaneous injections.
