Manchester United are cleared to pursue Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong in a summer where Xavi plans a squad overhaul. Inter Milan may sell Denzel Dumfries, with United interested in the Dutch player.

Manchester United have reportedly been given the go-ahead to reignite their pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer.

According to El Desmarque, as many as 17 Barcelona players are on the transfer list for the upcoming window as Xavi plans a squad overhaul. Among those potentially leaving the Catalan club is De Jong, who was a prime target for United under Ten Hag.

United engaged in a protracted and ultimately fruitless negotiation with Barcelona in their attempt to secure the Dutchman. Despite De Jong expressing his desire to stay at Barcelona on several occasions, United persisted before eventually conceding defeat.

Casemiro was eventually signed instead, but it appears that Ten Hag would still welcome the opportunity to bring De Jong to the Premier League. Previous targets Ronald Araujo and Robert Lewandowski are also reportedly at risk of departure.

In other news, Inter Milan may finally be resigned to selling Denzel Dumfries this summer. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Italian giants are prepared to let the Dutchman leave as his contract cannot be extended beyond 2025.

Inter reportedly see this upcoming window as their final opportunity to receive more than a nominal fee for Dumfries' services and are preparing for Manchester United to make a move for the player. The versatile 28-year-old can play as a right-back or right-sided midfielder, though he has primarily featured in midfield this season.

Previously, Milan have been linked with a move for Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka if Dumfries departs. Whether a swap deal between the two clubs materialises remains to be seen.
