Chris is set to star in the upcoming Channel 5 thriller, "The Feud," alongside actors such as Jill Halfpenny, Amy Nuttall, and Larry Lamb, among others. Filming has commenced in Newcastle, and the series is scheduled to premiere on Channel 5 in 2025.

Coronation Street icon Chris Gascoyne has secured his first major role since departing the cobbles last year.

Soap fans were left emotional over Christmas when Peter Barlow, portrayed by actor Chris, 56, bid farewell to Weatherfield and his wife Carla Connor. Peter had been struggling after the tragic death of Stephen Reid, whom he accidentally ran over with his taxi in fear that Stephen would harm Jenny Connor. Following Stephen's death, Peter battled personal demons and feelings of loss before ultimately deciding to leave.

Now, five months after his poignant on-screen exit, Chris Gascoyne's next role has been unveiled, where he joins forces with several fellow soap stars. Chris is set to star in the new Channel 5 thriller, "The Feud," alongside Jill Halfpenny, Amy Nuttall, Larry Lamb, and others. Filming is already underway in Newcastle, with the series scheduled to premiere on Channel 5 in 2025.

Jill, 48, is renowned for her roles in popular soaps like Coronation Street and EastEnders, as well as recent dramas such as The Long Shadow and Liar. Amy, 41, is best known for her portrayal of Chloe Atkinson in Emmerdale and has appeared in recent projects like "Mr Bates vs The Post Office," while Larry, 76, is famed for his roles as Archie Mitchell in EastEnders and Mick Shipman in Gavin & Stacey.

"The Feud" revolves around Emma and John Barnett, played by Jill Halfpenny and Rupert Penry-Jones, who seemingly lead an idyllic life on Shelbury Drive with their teenage daughter Beth (Megan Trower). They have close relationships with neighbours Sonia and Alan (Amy and Ray Fearon) and an older couple, Derek and Barbara (James Fleet and Tessa Peake-Jones).

However, beneath the surface of this peaceful street, tensions simmer among the close-knit group. A synopsis hints at the drama: "When Emma and John decide to add a kitchen extension to their house, things quickly spiral out of control. Objections to the plans unveil unexpected skeletons and life-threatening secrets. Infused with menace, 'The Feud' exposes how Emma’s aspirations transform into obsession, paranoia, and fear, triggering unforeseeable consequences for herself and her neighbours."

Larry Lamb will portray Emma's resourceful father Terry, while Chris Gascoyne takes on the role of the formidable builder Lee. Speaking about filming the new drama, Jill shared, "The transformation of Emma’s world in 'The Feud,' from a seemingly innocent situation to life-altering revelations, is something I'm excited to delve into! Working in the Northeast with the teams at Channel 5 and Lonesome Pine, alongside this brilliant cast, is a delight."
