The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has escalated its anti-terrorism efforts against Daesh, issuing detention warrants for 15 suspects believed to be linked to the terrorist group.

Turkish authorities have arrested eight individuals suspected of having ties to the Daesh terrorist organisation. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has identified 15 suspects based on intelligence information connecting them to Daesh, as part of their ongoing efforts to dismantle the terrorist organization's networks.

Security sources have indicated that the search for the remaining seven suspects is ongoing, emphasizing the continuing nature of the operation. Additionally, they highlighted the Turkish police's dedication to ensuring national security and disrupting terrorist activities within the country.

The latest operation forms part of a broader counterterrorism strategy by Turkey, which has undertaken over a thousand operations against Daesh since June 1, 2023. These efforts have resulted in the apprehension of over two thousand suspects. This proactive approach follows an attack on an Italian church by Daesh, highlighting Turkey's heightened efforts against the terror group since that incident.

Having been among the first nations to designate Daesh as a terrorist organization in 2013, Turkey continues to face threats from the group. These threats are evident through multiple attacks that have claimed over 300 lives and injured hundreds.

The ongoing operations mirror Turkey's steadfast commitment to peace, unity, and the security of its citizens and the global community.

In November 2022, Turkish police arrested 46 individuals in connection with the explosion in central Istanbul, which resulted in the deaths of at least six people and injuries to 81 others, according to Istanbul police.

Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu informed reporters that among the suspects apprehended were those involved in the incident, including the individual responsible for placing the bomb that caused the explosion on the bustling Istiklal Avenue in Turkey's largest city.
