"John Dutton's fate may be uncertain, but Kevin Costner is open to collaborating with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan in future projects."

When it was revealed in 2023 that Kevin Costner would be departing from Yellowstone and potentially concluding Taylor Sheridan's series prematurely, attention focused on the duo leading Western creators.

Rumours of a Costner-Sheridan feud quickly circulated, attributing the issue to salary disputes and scheduling conflicts. However, there seems to be no animosity on Costner's part. The actor recently discussed his rapport with Sheridan [via Entertainment Weekly], affirming that he would be open to collaborating again if the opportunity arose.

"No, we haven’t [spoken]," Costner mentioned. "He’s engaged in various special projects. If he sees a role for me that aligns with his vision, I would consider it, similar to my approach to Yellowstone. Perhaps we will collaborate on something in the future."

Costner has been Sheridan's lead actor since Yellowstone's debut in 2018, reflecting on their shared preferences for Western-themed projects.

"He appreciates the same themes I do, and the idea of working together is appealing to me," he remarked. "While Yellowstone could potentially continue, that decision rests with Taylor. Nevertheless, his other ventures are intriguing. He explores subjects that resonate with me."

This raises the question: if Costner were to return to Sheridan's universe, what role would suit him best? With Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 production commencing soon, a reunion within the Dutton family appears unlikely. However, Sheridan's extensive project portfolio, including his latest series in development, Landman, offers potential avenues for collaboration.
