Thomas Tuchel is being considered by Manchester United as a potential new manager, with Bayern Munich set to part ways with him despite fan support. Tuchel's future at Bayern remains uncertain, and United are evaluating him for the managerial role.

Thomas Tuchel is reportedly on Manchester United's shortlist of potential new managers if they decide to replace Erik ten Hag.

The German is expected to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, despite more than 19,000 supporters signing a petition for him to stay.

Ten Hag's future at United is uncertain, with the club currently sixth in the Premier League and preparing for the FA Cup final against Manchester City later this month.

Tuchel has led Bayern through a disappointing domestic season but has a chance to reach the Champions League final. Bayern face Real Madrid in the second leg of their semi-final next week following a 2-2 draw in Germany on Tuesday.

According to The Times, Tuchel is under consideration, although concerns exist over his history of disputes with bosses at Chelsea and Bayern.

Tuchel won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021 but was sacked in September 2022.

If he were to join United, it could lead to significant changes over the summer, with only three players likely to be safe from being transferred.

Some believe Bayern could reconsider their decision to part ways with Tuchel after Ralf Rangnick became the third manager to reject becoming his successor.

Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann had already declined the opportunity to join Bayern.

Tuchel has indicated he may stay, saying on Thursday that 'everything is possible' but that 'the agreement (to leave in summer) still stands'.

Bayern are on track to surpass last season's points tally and would typically have sealed the title had Leverkusen not recorded an impressive invincible season.

When news emerged that Bayern were interested in Rangnick, fans reacted negatively.

Fans launched a petition titled 'We want Juppel (Thomas Tuchel) and not Rangnick', which has gathered more than 19,000 signatures to date.

Initially, Tuchel made minimal comment on the matter.

'While it's positive to hear that fans want me to stay, it's not a priority,' he said before their 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last month.

'It can't be a priority. In the next 11 days, it's all about football, nothing else. Whether it's enjoyable or challenging, I won't let it affect me.'

Tuchel's tenure at Bayern has been marked by tensions, particularly with the club's honorary president, Uli Hoeness.

Recently, Hoeness questioned Tuchel's coaching approach.

'He doesn’t believe he can develop Davies, Pavlovic, or Musiala. If it doesn’t work, you should bring in someone else,' Hoeness said.

'I believe you should work diligently with them and instil confidence.'

Tuchel responded: 'It deeply offends me as a coach.

'If we've demonstrated anything in the coaching team over the last 15 years, it's that young players - especially those from the academy - always have a role in training and, through performance, always have a place on the pitch.

'And by the way, we've shown that! I have little comprehension of this. I find it completely groundless!

'This is so detached from reality that I wouldn't have responded if it hadn't come from Uli.

'The fact that it's coming from our boss before the Real Madrid match adds a different dimension.'
