London police have successfully contained the two runaway horses that were observed pacing through the streets of the capital, causing confusion among residents.

At least two horses were observed galloping through the streets of central London, and the City of London police announced on Wednesday that they had been recaptured.

The animals, adorned with saddles and bridles, were spotted racing along the road near Aldwych this morning, situated between London's historic financial district and the West End, the heart of the capital's entertainment sector.

These two horses were part of one of the most prestigious regiments in the British Army. Later in the day, the police confirmed that all the animals had been located.

While evading the morning rush hour traffic, the startled horses collided with a taxi and several other vehicles, as reported by British media outlets. The front of one of the horses, which was white, was visibly stained with red.

The British Army stated that the horses had escaped during routine exercise this morning but had been recovered and returned to camp. They added, "A number of personnel and horses have been injured and are receiving the appropriate medical attention."

The London Ambulance Service reported being called around 8:25 a.m. (0725 GMT) to reports of a person being thrown from a horse near Buckingham Palace Road.

City of London Police, responsible for the capital's financial district, said they were alerted around 8:40 a.m. to reports about horses on the loose.

In a subsequent statement, they indicated that officers had "contained two horses on the Highway near Limehouse," and they were "awaiting an Army horse box to collect the horses and transport them to veterinary care."

London's Metropolitan Police confirmed, "We're pleased to confirm that all of the horses have been accounted for. We are continuing to liaise with the army."
