Manchester City has provided a significant injury update regarding Erling Haaland ahead of the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has provided an update on Erling Haaland's fitness ahead of the upcoming FA Cup semi-final clash against Chelsea. The Norwegian striker was substituted during Manchester City's Champions League exit to Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Haaland's unexpected substitution before the start of extra time raised eyebrows, especially considering his impressive goal-scoring record. Guardiola revealed post-match that Haaland had requested to come off due to an undisclosed issue. Guardiola further elaborated on Friday, confirming that Haaland had sustained a muscular injury, though he remained ambiguous about its severity.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Guardiola stated, "Erling felt something, a muscular issue. That's why he told me he could not continue. The (doctor) said he had a little bit of niggles, a little problem, we will see how his evolution is in the next hours."

While Kevin De Bruyne was also substituted against Real Madrid due to fatigue, Guardiola acknowledged the toll that the demanding season has taken on his squad. With Chelsea awaiting them in the FA Cup semi-final, Guardiola emphasized the physical strain his players are under.

"It's normal with the amount of games we are playing this season and the previous seasons and not much recovery, and extra time and high intensity," Guardiola said. "We put a lot of pressure in our game and that's why the fatigue is there. They are human beings. They are not a machine. We are used to it."

Chelsea will aim to capitalize on Manchester City's packed schedule and potential fatigue following their Champions League exit. As Guardiola's side looks to bounce back from disappointment, Chelsea sees the FA Cup as a chance to secure silverware and European football next season.
