Manchester United could use Mason Greenwood as part of a deal to sign Juventus defender Gleison Bremer

Reports suggest that Manchester United are exploring the possibility of using Mason Greenwood as a bargaining chip in their pursuit of Juventus defender Gleison Bremer.

Greenwood, who is currently on loan at Getafe, faced suspension from United in January 2022 due to allegations involving a young woman, although charges were subsequently dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February of last year. With Greenwood's contract at Old Trafford set to expire in 2025, United are faced with the task of determining his future.

While reports last year indicated a potential return for Greenwood, the matter has sparked public outcry. New co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has acknowledged that a decision regarding Greenwood will need to be made upon his return, though nothing has been finalized.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport has suggested that United may consider including Greenwood in a deal to secure Bremer's services. Juventus is reportedly seeking to make Greenwood's acquisition financially viable, and United is open to discussions regarding a swap deal for Bremer.

Bremer has emerged as United's primary target this summer, with reports indicating that the club is preparing an offer for the Brazilian defender, valued at around £51 million. With Greenwood likely to depart in the summer, United is in search of another striker to complement Rasmus Hojlund and alleviate the goalscoring burden.

Recent speculation has linked United with Brentford's Ivan Toney, although potential hurdles such as the transfer fee and wages could pose challenges to the deal.
