Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba is set to meet his Indian counterpart along with the deputy national security adviser. Kyiv seeks to bolster its relations with India, notwithstanding Delhi's engagements with Russia.

Ukraine's chief diplomat arrived in New Delhi on Thursday for a two-day visit aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and promoting Kyiv's vision for peace in Ukraine.

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba is set to meet his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Friday, along with the deputy national security adviser, as stated by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

The senior diplomat will also pay his respects to Indian independence leader Mahatma Gandhi at the Rajghat memorial site on Thursday.

"The collaboration between Ukraine and India holds significance, and we will be revitalising our ties," Kuleba stated in a social media announcement. "Drawing from the discussions between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we will place specific emphasis on the Peace Formula."

Last week, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi conversed with both Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin via telephone.

Modi expressed on social media his affirmation to Zelenskyy of "India's unwavering support for all endeavors towards peace and hastening an early resolution to the ongoing conflict," affirming the country's commitment to providing humanitarian aid.

Simultaneously, Modi also engaged in dialogue with Putin to extend congratulations on his reelection. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs noted that the two leaders concurred on enhancing their already robust relationship. Modi emphasized the importance of dialogue and peace as the optimal path forward.

Kyiv is looking towards convening a summit of global leaders to advance its peace proposal, though excluding Russian involvement. Moscow has dismissed the Ukrainian initiative as unviable.

New Delhi has consistently refrained from censuring Russia, its long-standing ally, and has escalated its procurement of Russian oil to unprecedented levels since Moscow's incursion into Ukraine in February 2022.
