Burna Boy and Shakira Release Official 2026 FIFA World Cup Anthem
Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy and Colombian music icon Shakira have joined forces for “Dai Dai,” the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The track blends Afrobeats with Latin-inspired rhythms, creating a vibrant multilingual anthem designed to capture the global spirit of football’s biggest tournament.
In one of the song’s standout moments, Shakira mentions several football-loving nations and some of the countries participating in the tournament, singing: “Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia,” before adding “Mexico, Japan, Korea, Netherlands.” The song also features alternating verses between both artists before they come together in a powerful duet during the chorus.
The release of “Dai Dai” comes shortly after FIFA confirmed that Shakira, pop legend Madonna and K-pop sensation BTS will headline the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show. The event is scheduled to take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium, located just outside New York City. The halftime lineup was curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay.
According to organizers, the halftime show will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aiming to raise $100 million to improve children’s access to education and football opportunities around the world.
Shakira first teased “Dai Dai” a week earlier when she posted a short clip of herself dancing on the field of Maracanã Stadium. In the teaser, she sang the opening lyrics, “Here in this place / You belong,” while an unidentified male voice harmonized with her — later revealed to be Burna Boy. The lyrics continue with the inspirational line, “What broke you once / Made you strong.”
Shakira is already well known for her connection to FIFA World Cup music. Her 2010 anthem, Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), became one of the most successful and memorable World Cup songs ever released during the tournament hosted by South Africa.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico, with matches set to run throughout June and July.
