Tottenham 0-1 Bournemouth: Evanilson strikes to hand Thomas Frank first league defeat as Spurs boss

Tottenham’s perfect start to the Premier League season came to an end after Bournemouth claimed a 1-0 victory in north London.

Evanilson’s early strike proved decisive, though Spurs were perhaps fortunate not to lose by a wider margin as the Cherries squandered several clear chances.

Ahead of kick-off, Tottenham unveiled their new £51 million signing Xavi Simons to the home supporters, boosting the atmosphere inside the stadium. Spirits were high following victories over Burnley and Manchester City, but Thomas Frank’s side produced their poorest display yet under their new head coach.

The hosts fell behind within four minutes when Evanilson’s effort took a heavy deflection off Cristian Romero and flew past goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

From that point, Bournemouth continued to threaten, with Antoine Semenyo and David Brooks both missing opportunities to extend the advantage. Despite their dominance, the visitors let Spurs off the hook, with the home side failing to register a single shot in the first half.
