Bojan Miovski is set for an immediate baptism of fire after completing his £4.2 million switch to Rangers, with the striker in line to feature in Sunday’s Old Firm clash less than 24 hours after arriving in Glasgow.
Bojan Miovski poised for Old Firm baptism after sealing £4.2m Rangers move

The 26-year-old forward joins from Girona on a four-year deal, becoming Russell Martin’s 11th summer signing as the Ibrox boss looks to arrest mounting pressure following a stuttering start to the campaign.
Victory over Celtic is crucial for Rangers, who risk slipping nine points behind their city rivals if they suffer defeat. Martin, under increasing scrutiny after three successive Premiership draws and a humiliating Champions League exit to Club Brugge, is expected to throw his new signing straight into the fray.
Miovski, who enjoyed a prolific spell at Aberdeen before his move to Spain, is eager to make an instant impression.
“I am really excited to join Rangers and take the next step in my career,” Miovski told the club’s official website.
“The moment I heard of the interest, I knew this was where I wanted to be. I can’t wait to get started, meet my new team-mates and play in front of the fans.”
The Macedonian international scored 44 goals in 98 appearances for Aberdeen, including seven against the Old Firm, and was a firm favourite at Pittodrie. Though his return in Spain was modest — four goals across the season — Martin is confident he has secured a forward of genuine quality.
“We’re delighted to bring Bojan to Rangers,” said the Rangers boss. “His movement, intelligence and ability to score goals make him a real asset. He knows the Premiership well and has a strong track record of contributing in the league.”
Sporting director Kevin Thelwell echoed that view, adding:
“Bojan is a player we’ve tracked closely and we’re thrilled to have secured his signature. He’s proven himself as a consistent goalscorer and brings a level of quality that aligns perfectly with our ambitions.”
The transfer comes in the same week that Hamza Igamane left Ibrox for Lille, while Rangers are also working to complete a deal for Everton striker Youssef Chermiti before Monday’s transfer deadline.
Butland rallies players behind Martin
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Jack Butland has urged his team-mates to rally around Martin as speculation intensifies over the manager’s future.
“It’s something people are always going to try and drive between,” Butland said. “But if you down tools and give up, nothing can work. We stick together, we fight, and that gives us a chance. That’s what we’re doing as a group.”
When asked directly if Martin was the right man to lead the club forward, Butland was unequivocal in his support.
“Together is the only way things can be successful. If you try to separate the manager and the players, you’re not allowing things to develop. As players, we’re together and behind the manager.”
