Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley has called on his players to quickly regroup following a dramatic collapse in Game 6 against the Detroit Pistons.
Mosley Urges Magic to Move On After Collapse Against Pistons
Orlando appeared to be in complete control at half-time, holding a commanding 60–38 lead. However, a dismal second-half performance saw the Magic surrender their advantage, eventually falling to a 93–79 defeat. A remarkable sequence of 23 consecutive missed field goals proved decisive, allowing Detroit to level the series at 3–3.
The decisive Game 7 is scheduled to take place in Detroit on Sunday, with the Pistons widely considered favourites on home court.
Mosley Calls for Immediate Response
Speaking after the game, Mosley stressed the importance of learning from the defeat while maintaining focus ahead of the series decider.
“We have to put this behind us, learn from it and prepare for Game 7,” he said. “We know what these situations demand, especially away from home, and we understand the magnitude of the challenge.
“We showed what we are capable of in the first half, but now we must respond the hard way and find a way to win in Detroit.”
The second-half collapse was a source of clear frustration for Orlando, as their offensive rhythm completely disappeared. While players struggled to convert opportunities, the coaching staff could do little to influence events once momentum had shifted.
Pressure Mounts Ahead of Game 7
Despite entering the series as underdogs, the Magic had built a strong position with a 3–1 lead and appeared poised to close out the tie in Game 6. Their inability to do so has now placed significant pressure on both players and coaching staff ahead of the decisive contest.
Mosley has faced scrutiny at various stages this season over tactical decisions and squad management. Nevertheless, Orlando exceeded expectations by reaching the play-offs as the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Having come close to eliminating one of the conference’s top teams, the stakes have now intensified. Should the Magic fail to recover in Game 7, questions may be raised regarding the team’s direction — and Mosley’s future in charge.
