Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd believes Nico Raskin could become the subject of significant transfer interest this summer, with the midfielder’s growing international profile potentially creating a major financial opportunity for the club.

Raskin, who remains one of Rangers’ standout performers and an increasingly important figure for Belgium, enhanced his reputation after scoring in his country’s emphatic 5–0 victory over Tunisia ahead of their World Cup opener against Egypt.

The midfielder’s recent displays have only intensified speculation surrounding his long-term future at Ibrox.

Boyd believes Rangers may be open to considering offers for Raskin should a substantial bid arrive, particularly as the club prepares for a period of rebuilding under head coach Danny Rohl.

While stressing that Rangers would not actively seek to lose one of their most influential players, Boyd suggested financial realities could shape decisions during the transfer window.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Boyd said:

“None of us are naïve enough to think that if a serious offer comes in for Nico Raskin, Rangers wouldn’t consider it.

“The American owners have already spent a lot of money but you also have to start bringing money in – and the most sellable asset in that squad right now would be Raskin.

“So I’m sure from Rangers’ point of view, they might not want to lose him.

“But at the same time, they’ll be hoping he has a good tournament, that he performs with the eyes of the world on him and potentially generates some serious money for the club.”

International Progress Raises Transfer Questions

The 25-year-old still has two years remaining on his current Rangers contract, but Boyd believes his growing stature at international level could influence future decisions.

Having established himself within Belgium’s national team setup, Raskin may now begin considering opportunities in stronger European competitions should interest emerge.

Boyd added:

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Nico Raskin moves on in the summer but I also wouldn’t be surprised if he stays.

“He’s shown at Rangers he can achieve good things in terms of getting in that Belgium squad and going to the World Cup.

“That’s a huge step for Nico. He’s been in the Belgium squad now for a number of years and the next step for him was to cement his place in that team.

“You’ve got to say, he’s done that now. He’s a regular in the starting XI.”

Boyd also suggested that ambition could eventually lead Raskin away from Scottish football.

“But when you look at some of the other Belgian players and the levels they’re performing at on a weekly basis, it would be difficult for Nico to say, ‘I want to stay in Scottish football’.

“There’s no doubt his ambition will be to further his career and play in a better league than Scotland.

“He might not get a bigger club than Rangers but when you see how he’s done in Europe, to me he’s done enough to suggest that he can perform at a higher level.

“So I’m sure he’ll be looking for a move over the summer.

“But if it doesn’t come, let’s be realistic, he’s not at a bad club as is.”

With Rangers expected to reshape the squad ahead of the new season, Raskin’s performances on the international stage could prove decisive in determining whether he remains a central figure at Ibrox or attracts interest from clubs elsewhere in Europe.
