Fulham have rejected an enquiry from Everton for winger Harry Wilson as speculation continues to grow over the former Liverpool player’s future.

The 28-year-old is enjoying the most productive Premier League season of his career, having scored eight goals and provided four assists in 23 league appearances for Marco Silva’s side. His impressive form has inevitably sparked interest from elsewhere, with suggestions that Liverpool could even consider a surprise move to bring him back to Anfield.

Former Reds defender Stéphane Henchoz and ex-England manager Sam Allardyce have both publicly encouraged Liverpool to explore the possibility of re-signing Wilson, who came through the club’s academy.

Wilson has entered the final six months of his contract at Craven Cottage, and his future remains uncertain. While Fulham are keen to keep him, it is unclear whether a new deal will be agreed, raising the possibility that the Wales international could leave on a free transfer in the summer — or potentially depart before the transfer deadline.

Fulham’s decision to sign 22-year-old winger Oscar Bobb from Manchester City last month has also fuelled speculation that the club may be preparing for life without Wilson.

However, according to the BBC, Fulham have now rejected an enquiry from Everton for the attacker, who turns 29 in March. The report adds that contract talks between Wilson and the London club are currently on hold, although Fulham remain keen to retain him.

Wilson began his career at Liverpool and made two senior appearances for the club in domestic cup competitions. He spent loan spells at Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County, Bournemouth, Cardiff City and Fulham before completing a permanent move to Craven Cottage in the summer of 2022.

At international level, Wilson has won 67 caps for Wales, scoring 17 goals. He remains the youngest senior player in the nation’s history, having made his debut aged just 16 years and 207 days. He has represented Wales at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Former Fulham midfielder Michael Brown believes the club will be desperate to avoid losing one of their most influential players.

“What has surprised me is that Fulham haven’t already got this deal done,” Brown told BBC Radio 5 Live. “They won’t want to lose him and will be doing everything they can to keep him.

“He has the keys to the football club, and if they can sort the contract out, he’ll be in a really good place. There is some uncertainty around the manager, though.

“Aston Villa might be a good fit, but would he play? There’s a lot of competition in those positions. He’s at an age now where he wants to play regularly and at the highest level possible.”

Fulham are currently enjoying a strong Premier League campaign, sitting eighth in the table and just five points behind sixth-placed Liverpool as they continue their push for European qualification.
