Everton FC are increasingly confident of securing a permanent transfer for Jack Grealish following his impressive loan spell from Manchester City.

The attacking midfielder enjoyed a resurgence in form at the Hill Dickinson Stadium before a stress fracture ruled him out for the remainder of the season in January. Despite the setback, his future is expected to be a key topic of discussion ahead of the summer transfer window.

Grealish has struggled to fully justify his £100 million move to Manchester City in 2021, and with just one year remaining on his current contract, questions over his long-term future persist. His reported weekly wage of £300,000 is also likely to present a significant obstacle for any potential deal.

An option to buy, believed to be in the region of £50 million, is included in his current loan agreement. However, Everton are understood to be aiming to renegotiate that figure, with club officials viewing a fee closer to £20 million as more realistic given his contract situation.

The club’s improved financial position, bolstered by increased revenue from their new stadium, is expected to play a crucial role in their summer transfer plans.

Grealish has remained on Merseyside during his rehabilitation, a factor Everton view positively as it reflects his connection with the club. The former Aston Villa player quickly became a fan favourite and contributed two goals and six assists before his injury.

Despite falling out of the England national football team setup, Grealish has spoken openly about his admiration for Everton manager David Moyes, who is expected to play a pivotal role in any potential permanent move.

“It is a brilliant team and I love the manager,” Grealish said. “I have only known him a few months, but I cannot speak highly enough of him as a person. The way he makes me feel and motivates me to play is a credit to him. I feel fortunate to have played for great clubs with passionate supporters—this is certainly one of them.”

Everton’s strong recruitment has been a major factor behind their impressive campaign. Thierno Barry and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, signed for a combined £51 million, have both made significant contributions and currently lead the club’s scoring charts.

With ambitions of securing European football still alive, Everton’s pursuit of Grealish could prove a defining move in shaping their squad for the future.
